About the fair
The Good Fire Fair brings together the people who use fire to care for land on the Central Coast, including tribal stewards, state and local agencies, fire departments, land trusts, and researchers. Come see how prescribed fire works up close, talk with the people who plan and carry it out, and learn what you can do at home to live more safely with wildfire.
If conditions are right, you will be able to see a prescribed fire carried out by local resource managers in the heart of a Santa Cruz Mountains coast redwood grove.
Acerca de la feria
La Feria del Buen Fuego reúne a las personas que usan el fuego para cuidar la tierra en la Costa Central, incluyendo administradores tribales, agencias estatales y locales, departamentos de bomberos, fideicomisos de tierras e investigadores. Ven a ver de cerca cómo funciona una quema prescrita, habla con quienes la planifican y la llevan a cabo, y aprende qué puedes hacer en casa para vivir con más seguridad frente a los incendios.

- Live fire demo: watch a prescribed fire of redwood understory growth, likely between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., depending on weather and safe, favorable conditions

- Fire safety: learn how to safely build, tend, and extinguish a campfire
- Educational demonstrations and informative booths
- Home resilience: learn how to make your home more resilient to wildfire

- Meet local organizations working on good fire, home hardening, and natural resource management

Enter at the main park entrance off Highway 9 in Felton. Day-use parking is $10 per vehicle, paid at the entrance kiosk. Follow signs and volunteers to the fair grounds.

Plan your visit
- Wear closed-toe shoes and layers. Mornings are often cool under the redwoods.
- Smoke will be present at the fair while the demonstration burn is active, mostly between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Keep whatever distance feels comfortable to you, and step away upwind or take a break in the parking area if the smoke bothers you.
- Restrooms and drinking water are near the main entrance to the parking lot.
